Zimbabwe: Muroiwa Inks New Deal

Warriors defender Elisha Muroiwa has bounced back to Dynamos after he agreed to extend his contract by another year. Muroiwa, who missed the Glamour Boys' trip to Bulawayo at the weekend following the expiry of his contract on June 30, is now available for selection on the next home game against lowly Border Strikers.

There has been speculation over Muroiwa's future with the defender being linked with a possible move to South Africa but DeMbare treasurer Webster Marechera yesterday said they have since reached a deal.

However, the club's skipper Augustine Mbara is still to commit himself. Mbara's contract also expired on June 30. Marechera, who has been handling some of the roles of the secretary-general following the resignation of Webster Chikengezha recently, said they were still negotiating with Mbara.

"Elisha is now our player, we agreed a one year deal. We had wanted a longer deal but then it was difficult because these days the players' managers are always pressing for short term deals, which we feel is not ideal for the clubs.

"Mbara hasn't signed yet. We have been talking and we are still waiting for him to come back to us," said Marechera. The Harare giants are also expecting Denver Mukamba's reverse clearance from South Africa before the end of the week after agreeing to a one year deal with the midfielder who is returning from a stint with Bidvest Wits.

Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa had wanted to use the midfielder in their 1-0 win over Bulawayo City at the weekend but his papers were not delivered on time. Mukamba is now hoping to mark his return at Rufaro in the next match against Border Strikers. Mutasa said Dynamos, who are now fifth on the log standings with 20 points from 12 games following a brilliant run of four wins in succession, are still work in progress.
The former champions are rebuilding and have been introducing new faces in rookies like King Nasama, Musa Madhiri and Kudzanayi Nyakasaka. Dynamos had a poor start but they have managed to reduce the gap between them and the leading pack in the championship race to just six points. Mutasa was happy with the win at Bulawayo City.

"I think the scoreline shows it wasn't an easy game. We were very happy to come out victorious. This was our fourth win on the trot and it only shows we are improving as a team. I was particularly impressed by our defence because this was the third game that we have kept a clean sheet.

"This can only help boost confidence of the boys and as long as we can keep our feet on the ground I am sure results will continue to come. But then the destiny of the championship is not in our hands," said Mutasa.
