MUTARE: A local woman will forever rue the day she went to the home of her husband’s lover to cause havoc after she was severely assaulted and had her ear bitten off.

The suspect, Diana Magobeya, 38, who is hairdresser pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to three months in jail.

The sentence was however, wholly suspended on condition she performs 280 hours of unpaid work.

Magistrate Tracy Muzondo said she gave Magobeya credit on sentence because she promptly pleaded guilty and thus did not waste court’s time.

Prosecutors told the court that August 17, Martha Chinamora went to Magobeya’s house and accused her of having an affair with her husband.

The two reportedly exchanged harsh words and the situation degenerated into a fist fight.

Diana, together with a brother only identified as Elvis, started assaulting Chinamora.

After realising that Chinamora was standing her ground, Magobeya bit off part her ear and accidentally swallowed it.

Chinamora was rushed to a local hospital and a medical report was produced in court as part of the evidence.
