According to the French news daily newspaper Le Jour, of 8 June 2017, a driver and a guard from the diocese of Bafia were arrested on 2 June 2017 in connection with the death of Bishop Jean-Marie Benoît Bala, bishop of the diocese, whose circumstances of death remain unresolved until now.
