According to local residents, civilians were reportedly killed in the area by elements of the army in retaliation for a secessionist attack.

Houses, cars and motorbikes have also been set on fire by the army, some witnesses say.

The day before, Ebonji’s gendarmerie brigade had been attacked by armed Ambazonian groups causing casualties in the ranks of the police. Several attackers were killed during the attack.

Since the beginning of the clashes between the army and the Ambazonians, the populations of the English-speaking regions have continued to denounce the exactions of the elements of the Cameroonian army.

Last January, it was in Kwa-Kwa (Southwest) that military violence against civilians was observed. Several houses were burned by the soldiers during a descent.
