In a publication released on Tuesday, former Supreme Court Justice Paul Ayah Abine denounced the abuses suffered by the people of Manyu since yesterday.
According to the former Supreme Court judge, soldiers deployed in the village of Akwaya (Manyu Department) would prevent people from moving out of the village. An act considered by Paul Ayah Abine as a crime against humanity.Referring to the controversial communiqué of the Manyu Prefect urging people to leave the locality not to expose themselves to the massacre of the Cameroonian army, the former Supreme Court judge indicates that Akwaya should now be considered as a zone of war.

Friday, December 1, 2017, the Prefect of Manyu has published his famous statement, enjoining, among others, the villagers of Akwaya to leave their villages, for fear to expose himself to the massacre of the Cameroonian army. Previously, Cameroonian military helicopters flew over the village of Akwaya a few meters above the roofs. Panicked, the villagers had started looking for shelters.
On the morning of Monday, 4 December, convoys of BIR soldiers were deployed in Akwaya. The soldiers ready to fight quickly began to act. They blocked "roads", including the track called Akwaya-Amana (Nigeria) Road.
Women and children seeking refuge in Nigeria were taken and were systematically sent back to Akwaya. This act is a crime against humanity. For international law prohibits preventing refugees from fleeing war zones or compelling them to do so. And that's exactly what these soldiers did. The statement from Manyu Prefect is proof that Akwaya is a war zone.
The perpetrators of these crimes must bear in mind that justice and international institutions take time, but end up acting. Ambazonia is now a war zone - Paul Ayah Abine
