Mamfe, the capital of Manyu Division, witnessed sporadic fighting between unknown gunmen, who reportedly belong to the Ambazonian defense force and the Cameroonian army.
During the past week, several events have occurred that have caused panic and generated a massive exodus from the region.

More than 20 businessmen and women went bankrupt, losing an estimated 50 million FCFA because most of them had their stores for the holidays. Cameroon Concord News understands that the destruction should have been minimized if the military was allowed to circulate early in the morning.
Thursday, 14 December 8:30 am: Unidentified gunmen attacked soldiers on patrol. Violent exchanges of artillery fire claimed the lives of 7 civilians, including 2 Malians and a Nigerian. The foreigners were killed in Tanjong Street, far from the scene of the confrontation.

Foreign nationals went to eat at a restaurant in Tanjong Street where they were allegedly shot dead by soldiers in a van. The soldiers refused to identify the others and the 7 victims were buried in a mass grave behind the old Council building.

The inhabitants of Egbekaw have all left their homes. The Manyus have moved to different cities in the English-speaking regions. The mototaxi are all gone and the streets of Mamfe are empty. As a result, schools were all forced to close.
The military launched a three-day attack on the Mamfe business community, which sells adulterated gasoline commonly known as "funge". A gasoline vendor reported that a fuel worth 30 million CFA francs had been destroyed.
