Cameroon - Paul Atanga Nji: "We Must Act In Synergy"

In the Northwest and Southwest, you have said that peace-making is everyone's business. What role should each stakeholder play? The head of state has instructed me to ask the traditional leaders to collaborate because security is not just the job of the defense forces.

Traditional leaders, administrative authorities, defense and security forces, local people must act in synergy. Everybody is concerned. That's why I wanted to meet almost everyone. Teachers, taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, economic operators, traditional leaders to tell them that the head of state asks them to participate in this fight to eradicate terrorism. It is a united front against terrorists and everyone must feel concerned. No one is excluded and no one should be excluded.

Cameroon is a respected country. When the Head of State is somewhere it is said that Cameroon is a haven of peace and hospitality. It is a reputation we must preserve. That's why my message has been clear: everyone at his level must work with the defense and security forces to ensure peace of mind. But overall, you find that the situation is calm but we must remain vigilant.
CAMEROON :: Paul Atanga Nji: "We Must Act In Synergy"
Minister, what should be done particularly by motorcycle-taxis carriers very often complicit with troublemakers? What amazed me on the ground is that motorbikes are very organized. They themselves have recognized that most of the atrocities and heinous crimes in the urban perimeter and in some villages are planned and conducted with the complicity of motorcycle taxis. They recognized him. The killings of the defense forces were carried out with their help.

They arrive by dozens with weapons and when they commit their package they disappear because cars can not easily circulate in the bush. But they organized themselves so that those who commit atrocities will now be denounced. That's why motorbike-taximen themselves said that those who will not be identified will no longer be working in three months.

In principle, motorcycle taxis are exercised on the basis of a decree of the Prime Minister, which is not applied. You need a driver's license, helmet, insurance, etc. They asked the government for three months to put themselves in order. In relation to the governors of the region, this time has been granted and compliance with the regulations is an obligation.

The taximen motorbikes having collaborated, I gave them at each step and as a symbol of helmets and chasubles and they told me at each stage to convey their encouragement to the Head of State who had noted in a speech the importance of this activity.

It is simply a question today of eradicating highwaymen who are hiding among motorcycle taxi drivers. You finally asked the traditional leaders to bring out young people carrying weapons ... I told the traditional leaders that young people who kill, rape and destroy do not live on Mars, Jupiter or Saturn. They are in our villages.

Kidnappings and kidnappings are done with the complicity of members of certain families. I told the leaders that they must work with the authorities to eradicate this evil because Limbe and Buea are sites chosen by CAF to host the next African Cup of Nations Football. The head of state gave firm instructions for the country to be secure. Everyone must work for the security of our towns and villages.
