The journalist Remy Ngono is used to telling spooky stories about the management of this country; undoubtedly he also tends to hypertrophy the true detail.
But what he told last week about the conflict between ex-minister Atangana Kouna and former Director-General William Solo, although extraordinary, can not be disputed for the most part and shows how much Paul Biya is cynical, see villain.ATANGANA KOUNA-WILLIAM SOLO
The fall of Atangana Kouna has at least the merit of showing a hateful trait of the behavior of Cameroonians.
Here is a gentleman, imbued with himself, who when he was passing through a city was followed as a living God by a pack "hungry", who is now considered a plague victim, nobody even accepting him any more shaking hands one day.
Paul Biya Is Cynical and Mean, The Evidence |
He had, during a visit to Douala, asked to see me because he did not understand why I was the only boss of the press to have never met him.
When I arrive at the Meridien hotel where he was staying, what is my surprise to find that there was a crowd like during an important football match? Magistrates, businessmen, courtiers, members of the police ... were waiting for him, most of them with a file in their hands.
Since I had indicated that I would not wait more than 10 minutes waiting for him in the lobby, he received me right away.
Without betraying the secret of our conversation, he wanted to talk to me at length, in a very courteous way, his conflict with William Solo. He told me that they were from the same family and he did not understand why his eldest behaved this way.
That he had seized the Head of State who had promised him to settle this case as soon as possible.
What he did not know was that his eldest William Solo also activated his networks so much that after delusions on reports, almost two years later, Paul Biya decided to put them in prison together the same day.
What is the idea of naming an uncle instead of his nephew and making his nephew his superior?
Is the goal to create discord in families?
ATANGANA MEBARA-HENRY EYEBE
In the early 90's, Henry Eyebe is a young minister.
After being sacked for some time, he goes through a period of scarcity that will last until his friend and "brother" Atangana Mebara is appointed Minister of Higher Education.
He becomes a sort of charge of VIP shopping with the Minister, not hesitating to carry his bag, literally and figuratively. The former "golden boy" seems to revive.
When Atangana is lowered to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the wheel turns in favor of Eyebe Ayissi who will occupy the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs (As Mebera) and the Presidency of the Republic where he will be an important Minister in charge of the State control.
In other words, he had the entire case against his friend Atangana Mebara.
What do you think their relationship has become? Do you see Henri Eyebe and his wife regularly visit their former benefactor in prison? Is not all this Machiavellian?
ANACLET FOMETHE- TSAFACK NANFOSSO
Professor Anaclet Fomethe was for 10 years a relatively well-liked Rector of the University of Dschang, which as everyone knows, is one of the most important in Cameroon and Central Africa.
When the President of the Republic decides to replace him, he appoints Professor Tsafack Nanfosso in his place. Where is the problem, would you be tempted to ask ...
Except that the predecessor and his successor are of the same family, being first cousins. They have the same grandfather and come out of the big chiefdom Foreke in the Menoua.
Had it not been for the sense of discernment that animates these two "brothers", the successor could have found lice on the skull of his predecessor to allow the "very high hierarchy" to send it to the TCS.
Naughty ... very naughty.
AKAME MFOUMOU / ABAH ABAH
Who still remembers that after the Head of State, Edouard Akame Mfoumou was probably, at a given moment, the most powerful man in this country?
It is still him who has "sold" all the companies (our family jewels) from this country to foreigners and it would be good for him to explain it one day.
Minister of Defense, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic and all-powerful Minister of Economy and Finance, he is the one who made the Abah Abah, Nkodo, Ngamo Amani and many others currently in prison.
For many, it was he who was to replace Paul Biya at the helm of the country. He had therefore set up a powerful network of courtiers and when I met one towards the end of the week, he said to me, his chest bulging: "we go to the village to meet the old man to refine our strategy".
Becoming too strong, the Head of State overthrows him like a puppet and after a flash of Meva'a Meboutou at the head of this imposing ministry, he named the creature "extreme" Akame Mfoumou, Abah Abah Polycarpe at the post of ... Minister of Economy and Finance.
What then becomes of the relations between the two men?
The clan is cracking to the point of being no more than a virtuality.
Is it not the work of an imp?
When I see young Cameroonians supporting such a man at the head of such a system; young people who want more for 7 years, I say to myself that I am either crazy, or these young people have something that is wrong and is in the field of psychology, philosophy and related sciences.
