The case of the computers offered by President Paul Biya to the Cameroonian students does not finish to deliver his lot of revelations over the days.
After criticizing the actual performance of the machines, it is an espionage scandal that touches the full face this project launched by the Cameroonian president in July 2016.
According to the whistleblower journalist Boris Bertolt who publishes information, experts have confirmed the presence of a tracking device connected to the battery of computers distributed to students last December (see image below). Software like Trojan Scare would have been installed in back end of Notebook to monitor the users, according to these experts.
Even if no counter-expertise has yet been conducted on these initial results, they raise many concerns among some Cameroonian Internet users especially in light of the latest releases of Cameroonian authorities on the dissemination of information on social networks.
Last December, the Ministry of Justice ordered, through a note addressed to the attorneys general of the ten regions, a hunt against Cameroonian activists on social networks.
"Unidentified people are repeatedly engaged in acts of violation of the law, threats, intimidation, insults, calls for violence ... through social networks. (...) I have the honor to ask you to undertake, after their precise identification by the security services, legal proceedings against all persons residing in Cameroon abroad who resort to social networks " could you read in the note.
Before this note, it is the spokesman of the army Colonel Didier Badjeck who in November- sought cooperation between states to track down and arrest "individuals who insult the Head of State and ministers of the Republic "on social networks.
